CoEdit Spaces
CoEdit Spaces is a unique desktop word processing application built around collaboration. Like many desktop tools, CoEdit is fast, works offline, and provides a rich user interface, but does not require a desktop installation. When you are online, you can share your work with others and CoEdit will merge your changes automatically. Some of CoEdit's key features are listed below:
Online and Offline Word Processing Editor
Work on documents offline when no Internet or network connection is available. When a connection is available, you can share your documents with your peers and synchronize changes.
Share Documents Securely with Peers
CoEdit Spaces allows you to share you r documents securely with peers. The documents are not sent through unsecure email, but a proprietary peer-to-peer technology that does not route documents through an online central server that can be compromised.
Merge and Synchronize Documents with Peers
Once a document is shared, your peers can make edits while you continue to work. Changes made by you and your peers will be merged and synchronized so that everyone working on the document will see the latest changes by all peers. Sending out static documents requires a serial workflow process where each peer must make edits one at a time or someone will have to manually merge many copies of the document. CoEdit Spaces provides the capability for each peer to make change to the document in a parallel manner and the changes are automatically merged. Changes made by peers can be tracked and reviewed.
Fast Desktop-like Application Performance
Many online applications especially the online word processing editors are notoriously slow. They rely on the Internet and network for all their processing, computations, and actions. When the network or Internet slows or stops, so does your work. CoEditSpaces resides on the local machine, so the application takes advantage of the local computer’s processing and memory capabilities and doesn’t rely on the Internet or network. Even if the Internet or network slows down, CoEditSpaces will not be interrupted or disturbed.
No Desktop Installation Required
CoEdit Spaces utilizes Adobe Flash technology and requires no desktop installation. As long as your browser supports Flash, you can use CoEdit Spaces without the need for time-consuming desktop installations. Also, since CoEdit Spaces requires very little server installation and configurations, your IT department will be able to get CoEditSpaces running in no time.
Documents are Stored on Your Local Computer
Documents that are stored online require a reliable, stable, and secure connection, which doesn’t always exist. CoEdit Spaces doesn’t require a centralized online server to be established, documents are stored on your local computer.
CoEdit Spaces is no longer available. However, we plan to relaunch the product with an updated version soon!
